Greetings all.
What beautiful days we are having! The dreadful wind has gone and the heat has toned done a little. And what a joy it has been driving to work this week now that the schools are on leave – wish it could always be like that (sigh)
We have been advised that Cynthia Titren had a bad fall on 01 March and has had to undergo a hip replacement operation. I am sure that you will all join with me in sending Cynthia all our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery and we hope that you are back and entertaining us again soon Cynthia!

NEXT MEMBERS EVENING
This will be on Wednesday 29th April at 7.45p.m in the Guide Hall Bergvliet. We will be having a short talk by Barrie Howard on our next production “The Time of My Life” followed by Wesley Figaji who will give us some background on the play he will be directing for us in October “Abigail’s Party” He will also chat about the characters and upcoming audition. THEN – we would like everyone to bring along a short piece of literature which has a lot of action, it can be anything – even a fairytale. We will get into pairs and one person will be the narrator and the other person must act out the piece. As this is unrehearsed it can prove to be huge fun! Don’t forget to bring along a plate of snacks and the usual cash bar will be available.
OUR NEXT PRODUCTION
“The Time of My Life by Alan Ayckbourn and directed by Barrie Howard. Opening at the Masque of Friday 15th May and running until 23rd May. This play is probably one of Alan Ayckbourn’s funniest and wittiest black comedies. Set in the past, present and future, it charts the decline and fall of a successful family business. Please remember that we like to make opening night special – in fact we have become famous for it! So please reserve your seats as soon booking is open. Barrie has assembled a mega stellar cast consisting of Dennis Benneyworth, Jane Cohen, Toby Beele, Trish Sutton, Denise Dubber, Leon Kowalski, John McConnell and Rudy Gibbons (correct spellings this time!!!) What a combination of talent – how can it not be a winner!

‘Old Wicked Songs’
Brenda Gray’s production of ‘Old Wicked Songs’ has been invited to the Artscape Arena from 8 to 16 May. Diarise these dates now – don’t miss this chance to see this superb show if you didn’t catch it first time round.

Audition Notice – Claremont Dramatic Society. ISN’T IT ROMANTIC By: Wendy Wasserstein
This will be performed at The Masque from the 17 – 25 July 2009 and directed by Graham Boxall. Wendy Wasserstein’s work brought her recognition when she won a Pulitzer Prize and Tony award for drama.
This play takes place in the late 1980’s in New York City with action set in various locations in Manhattan. The title is somewhat tongue-in-cheek as Wasserstein was herself part of the feminist movement in America. However in this play, she looks at the bittersweet side of relationships creating some wonderfully textured characters against the background of New York life. Essentially a comedy with some brilliant one-liners, there is room for a tear or two.
Auditions for the play will be held on Sunday 19 April at 14h30 in The Hok, American accents (not Southern) required throughout. For further information contact Graham on 083 7073055.
