THE CANDLELIGHT SUPPER THEATRE SHOW
PINELANDS TOWN HALL – JULY 10TH, 11TH AND 12TH
Pooling their imaginations and considerable talent to devise this show are Shaun Holley and Graham Boxall. With extracts from past shows that will take the audience on a rollicking ride down memory lane. The audition is in March – you’ll be getting an audition notice soon. The guys are calling on all members to make contact if they have a song or piece of dialogue from a past show that they’d like to perform. Anecdotes (amusing or otherwise) about the Society and productions would also be very welcome. Here are their contact numbers: Shaun/021 531 7296 & Graham/0832367709. They would really value your call, so please phone them – they’re waiting.

Bumped into Joan LaCock yesterday. She said her granddaughter had to do a ‘profile’ on a family member for school. Deciding Gran (once a singer!) was a good subject, she interviewed Joan who told her all about her days in the ‘Reps’, producing photographs, etc. Later Joan peeped at the ‘article’ which was headed: ‘MyGran, Joan LaCock, born in 1826’. The 182-year-old is organising entertainment for a Seniors Centre in Pinelands. I hope the Committee or some enterprising Members can put something together for her – her number is 021 5315353.WHAT’S HAPPENING: *MADS presents ‘All you need is Love’ – a celebration of the Beatles Music. TAILPIECE
I’ve been privileged to be a member and enjoy 28 of the Society’s 60 years. I have been thinking of Members I knew who are no longer with us: Madge Harding, Geoff & Doris Tansley, Zoe Currie, Joan Carlin, Richard Angless, Laura Roos, Michael Downham, Ivan O’Reilly, Wolfie Brehm, Jack Buteux, Louise King, Charles Simpson, Mike Powell, Hazel de Jager, Mickey van der Westhuizen, Brian Burke, Val Jones, Ken Mitchell & Joe Ellis. Such special people who each in their unique way left their mark on the Society. There are, of course, many more, but these were people I knew and they made an indelible impression on me. Thank goodness the list of people – still very much alive and kicking, but whose involvement in the Reps is no longer an active one – is much longer. I hope that Shaun and Graham will recall these people in their reflections for the Candlelight Supper: Tony & Libby Murray, Con Errington, Sally & Gerrard Boulle, Mike MacDonald, Alistair Duff, Terry Temple, Len Pye, Alan & Heather Russell, Riordan Williams, Brian de Jager, Danny & Anthea Spurrier, Sue & Paul Robertshaw, Rob McCarthy, Lillyan Figueira, Tony Stiglingh ……….to name but a few. What a ‘jol’ it’s been!
As ever, break a leg and remember that Pinelands Players is YOUR Society; it’s a reflection of what you put into it.
luv
June
It’s important to keep your life interesting when you retire. For example, the other day my husband & I went to Clicks Pharmacy (to pick up our chronic medication). We were only in there a few minutes and when we came out, there was a traffic cop writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him & said ‘Come on young man, how about giving senior citizens a break?’ He ignored us & continued writing. So I called him a Nazi. He glared at me, slapped the 1st ticket on the windscreen & started writing another. My husband told him he was an insensitive SOB. The cop slapped the 2nd ticket on the car & started writing a third ticket. As we continued to call him names, he continued to write tickets. Personally, we didn’t care. We’d walked to Central Square. You’ve just got to make your own fun on a fixed income these days.
Can you please give Danny or Anthea Spurrier my contact details. And ask them to contact me with reference as to dale’s whereabouts.
this would be greatly apriciated,
Thank you,
Brian woolhead
Brian, I have asked June Wells of Pinelands Players to forward your message to Danny and Anthea. Hope you make contact soon!
